A HOLDER of a MyKad
bearing an expiry date and the words 'Pemastatutin Sementara' (Temporary
Resident) issued by National Registration Department has apparently found her
way to Election Commission’s database.
Blogger 'Amenoworld'
discovered the 'temporary' MyKad holder, Noridah binti Dawi, who has a home
address in Klang but is registered as voter in Sabah.
A check by
Harakahdaily on EC’s database, based on the Mykad number 741217-12-5786, shows
Noridah registered as voter in Silam parliamentary and Lahad Datu state
constituencies.
However, her home
address is given as "C-3-18, Jalan Batu Unjur 9, Sri Bayu Apartment, Taman
Bayu Perdana, 41200 Klang Selangor".
Earlier, the
discovery of a similar blue-colour MyKad was being intensely discussed on the
internet. However, the temporary resident was not found to be a registered
voter.
Prior to this, the EC
said its recent correctional exercise meant that voters would be re-registered
in a constituency based on their MyKad address. The move also affected Selangor
Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, whose name was moved to Lembah Pantai.
Explaining the
unfamiliar MyKad, the NRD was quoted by Malaysiakini as saying that that the
MyKad with expiry date was an old version of the temporary resident card it had
been issuing since 2001.
"(At that) time,
the government (did) not have different types of cards for citizens, permanent
residents and temporary residents. The
only way to differentiate them was (by printing) four red square boxes in front
of the card for permanent residents, with the words 'Pemastautin Tetap' and
five green triangles for temporary residents with the words 'Pemastatutin
Sementara' (and) the expiry date.”
NRD further explained
that red 'MyPR' cards were introduced in 2006 for permanent residents and in
2009, the green 'MyKAS' cards were given to temporary residents with the expiry
date intact.
“Both MyPR and MyKAS
holders are not considered as holding Malaysian citizenship," the
department added.
The latest discovery
of the Klang resident registered as a voter in Sabah is set to fuel allegations
surrounding the electoral roll - the main complaint of those calling for clean
and fair election, whose rally at Dataran Merdeka is set to rock local
political scene on Saturday.
The EC has often been
accused of colluding with the Federal government agencies to manipulate the
electoral roll to ensure Barisan Nasional's victory in the next general
election.
Recently, PAS vice
president Mahfuz Omar revealed what he called was an 'instant-citizens
taskforce' involving top government officials, to issue citizenship to
foreigners in return for votes for BN. (Harakahdaily)
ReplyDeleteHow is it possible for a temporary resident to be registered as voter???? There must be someone from the "inside" registering them to be a voter. We really RCI to be set up in sabah or else we wouldn't be having a clean and fair election.
ReplyDeleteIt is not impossible. Some of them did it because of self interest.
ReplyDeleteAnother limitation SPR and NRD.
ReplyDeleteInilah sebab Perhimpunan Bersih dibuat serata tempat Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteall political leaders in Sabah, regardless the government or oppositions, to stop their bickerings, mudslingings, accusations and counter-accusations against one another and to put their heads together and work out a workable political solutions that would bring benefits to the people of Sabah
