Vice Youth Chairman of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), Lim Kat Chung, has categorically denied that he had issued a statement questioning the motive of Kota Kinabalu MP, Dr Hiew King Cheu in querying the award of rural development projects in Sabah.
“I did not issue nor send out the said statement purportedly issued by me. I believe someone must have used my name to issue the statement without my consent,” said Lim.
In a clarification issued here today, Lim expressed regret that the said statement had unfairly implicated him and FCAS in what he described as a nasty “power struggles” between two Sabah UMNO warlords.
“In as far as I’m concerned, FCAS is a non-Governmental Organisation. Hence, it should always remain apolitical and should not be dragged into political affairs or struggles of any political organizations, or be seen as supporting a particular political party or a politician,” he stressed.
Lim who is also the Treasurer of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Exco also regretted that the said statement had given the public a wrong impression that he was targeting at Dr Hiew who is also Sabah DAP Advisor, when as the matter of fact he had got nothing to do with it.
While admitting that he did issued some press statements on behalf of SAPP Youth Exco from time to time, he nonetheless reiterated that he did not issue this particular one.
Lim lamented that he has been severely traumatized by the said statement which was widely published in the local dailies on Thursday, in both Chinese and English languages.
This was because ever since the statement was published, he had been receiving numerous calls from the various quarters including FCAS and his leaders and comrades in SAPP, querying him over the said statement.
He also said he shall reserve the right to seek legal recourse over the matter, adding that he is prepared to prove his innocence in order to safeguard his integrity.
