THE PEOPLE living in the
Petagas and Putatan area are furious over the bad performance of the Putatan
District Council. They said the council did not do what they should do for the
people. The whole area looks like a ground where nobody attending to.
Sabah DAP Ketua Wanita Puan
Noriah Onong after received complaint was on site to carry out an inspection
with the Vice Chairman cum Local Government and Housing Bureau Chief Edward
Ewol Mujie and Robert Rajah. They were shocked to see the poor conditions of
the infrastructure and the cleanliness in the housing area in Taman Bersatu,
Taman Pasir Puteh, and Taman Jambo.
The Taman Bersatu is very
prompt to flood due to its drain not being cleaned, broken up, and blocked. The
vegetation are overgrown and seem a long time without cleaning up.
Many drains here are clogged
and mosquitoes are breeding fast. A lady said that she has to clear the blocked
drain regularly, because she can't bear the bad smell and worry the dirty water
will flow into her house. She said she had complained to the YBs here but there
were no action until now.
There are rubbish everyway
and the sweepers and maintenance crews were no way to be seen. The broken
walkway slabs infront of the Taman Bersatu shops here were not replaced for a
long time.
The people said where the
assessment money they paid to the council is. They expected the council to do
their work as expected. If they cannot do their work, they better let someone
handle the job.
Puan Noriah commented that
it is a shame that the Putatan Council did not execute their job accordingly
and professionally. There must be something seriously wrong in its management
and the state government is also equally liable for the same. How can the
Ministry of Local Government and Housing did not act in spite of numerous
complaints? Are the people in Putatan not important?
The state government must do
the job that they are entrusted with. We don't want a government that
constantly fails the people.
