AN IMAGINATION is a powerful tool of the mind and the Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology hopes to cultivate this ability in young children.

In conjunction with the ICT month this November, the ministry in collaboration with Sabah Techpreneur Association (SATA), the State IT Advancement Unit (KIT) and the State Education Department organised an "I'm a Techpreneur" workshop aimed at enhancing creativity and entrepreneurial skills among school children.

55 school children from both primary and secondary schools attended this workshop at Wisma Bandaraya today.

According to Bugs Tan who conducted the workshop, the purpose of the event is to allow children to understand that they have a capacity of imagination, which in turn can be used to create things.

Tan who was invited by the ministry from Kuala Lumpur aims to teach the children that they can use their imagination and turn it into wealth.

"I'm trying to make them understand that through imagination they can become successful in their life," Tan said.

12-year old Tommy Joanes from Sacred Heart Primary School found the workshop to be exciting and enjoyable.

"It is fun. They taught us how to become an inventor and that becoming an inventor can be a career," he said.

The "I'm a Techpreneur" workshop is one of 25 events lined up by the ministry for the month of November. Similar events are also held statewide and are open to the general public. (Insight Sabah)
