AMANAH EXPRESS FULL SUPPORT ON RCI

By : LESAYA LOPOG SORUDIM

DEPUTY Chairman of Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (AMANAH) Sabah Chapter, Datuk Monggoh Orow expressed Amanah’s full support to UPKO on its stand to call for the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate claims that MyKads are being issued to non-Malaysian citizens through dubious means.

He also calls for a full and intensive investigation into the sudden increase in the Sabah population which happened at an extraordinary stage in the last decade.

Datuk Monggoh Orow said;

“Amanah Sabah is in support of the call by Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred M. Bumburing and UPKO for the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the continuous presence of huge number of illegal immigrants in Sabah before the situation comes to a stage of ‘no return’.

“We want to know if the sudden increase in the Sabah population in the last decade is related to the huge number of foreigners who might have entered Sabah either legally or illegally and how they managed to obtain MyKads. The authorities should not just sweep this issue under the mat or keep it locked up in a closet as sooner or later, and ultimately, this whole issue will explode like a time bomb.

“Amanah Sabah which is now in its third month in Sabah is receiving tremendous support from both sides of the political divides on this pertinent. This matter is not just a political issue but a social, constitutional, cultural, security and demographical issues that need to be address positively and decisively before the next general election.

“This is neither a threat nor an ultimatum but a noble and sincere call to the government of the day to take their stand a long that of the people of Sabah at large.”

“Meanwhile, I call upon all political leaders in Sabah, be they in the government or oppositions, to stop their bickerings, mudslingings, accusations and counter-accusations against one another.

“If they are really sincere in wanting to bring about a better economic atmosphere, better inter-racial and better inter-religious interaction among all communities then the first thing they should learn to do is to put their heads together and work out a workable political solutions that would bring benefits to the people of Sabah.

“I don’t see any good things coming about that would benefit the people at large and improve the current situation by digging up whatever misgiving done in the past by anyone, especially political leaders. All Sabahan leaders regardless of their political affiliations should have the interest of ‘Sabah and Sabahans’.“

(NOTE : Datuk Monggoh Orow is a Deputy Chairman, Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (Amanah) Sabah State Council, also Former Tuaran MP.)
