UNDER the Second Rolling
Plan (2012-2013) of the 10th Malaysia Plan, Sabah has RM4.366 billion to carry
out 785 projects. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman revealed that
until 31 December 2012, a total of RM3.499 billion from the 2012 allocation has
been spent to fund the development projects in Sabah.
"We achieved 80.14 per
cent in our performance which is 6.48 per cent higher than the National
performance average of 73.66 per cent," he said at a press conference
after chairing the first State Action Council Meeting for 2013 at Wisma
Innoprise yesterday.
Musa said government
agencies should look at the results of the programs and projects that they
carry out to see whether they are up to the set targets. They should also
assess the projects' impact on the people, "This outcome assessment is
crucial to ensure that the government's development programs and projects
benefit the people," he said.
He also warned contractors
to work responsibly and not to delay projects because they may be blacklisted if they did not follow the
schedule of the contract, or if they abandon the project that has been given to
them.
On other issues, Musa also
disclosed the progress of the computer labs project and the Cabin Schools
project carried out on the initiative of the Education Ministry.
He said as of 31 December
2012, out of 242 of the school computer labs under construction, 124 have been
completed. As for the cabin schools, 286 out of the 424 under construction have
been completed.
The Chief Minister said he
was happy with the progress of these projects, and look forward to seeing the
teachers and students making good use of these facilities. (Insight Sabah)
