“STAR is no longer a 'mosquito'
party but a strong and significant political party in Sabah with a big
following,” said Datuk Dr.Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR Sabah during STAR
Sabah’s first anniversary last weekend.
“Compared to PKR which took
six to seven years to get about 60,000 members, STAR has attracted 270,000
members within a short span of 12 months,” he said.
Among STAR’s successes
include its most effective slogan "INI KALI LAH” which are now being
copied and echoed by other opposition parties even in the Peninsular, he added.
The other significant
success is its BTP (Borneo Tea Party) program which is run by UBF (United
Borneo Front) to educate the people on Sabah/Malaysia’s political-economic
history with analysis, facts and figures.
This program didn’t need much money to run and provided effective social
interaction that includes questions and answer sessions.
The anniversary was also
attended by top leaders of the United Borneo Alliance (UBA) including SAPP and
USNO and about 5,000 people.
