By : TOMBONUO MEDIA

THE Pitas Sabah Tombonuo People’s Association (PBTPS) will soon launch a public relations campaign to promote the Tombonuo publicity and goodwill among other associations and government bodies in the state.

Its President, Akian Ahkiew, said in a speech here last week that it is time for the Tombonuo people to gain exposure in the socio-cultural front in Sabah and play an active role in promoting the Tombonuo cultural heritage.

In his speech in a gathering to celebrate the achievement of the Tombonuo dancers in bringing the Sumanggak dance into the Malaysia book of Records after a marathon dance performance in Kota Marudu recently, he reiterated that the Tombonuos need to be more aggressive to make themselves known to fellow Sabahans.

“We are now in the process of preparing a profile of the association and the Tombonuo community,” he said. “We will be distributing this publicity material during our courtesy calls to various associations and relevant government agencies for the purpose of making ourselves and our cultural offers better known to the government and other ethnic groups in Sabah.”

In his speech, Akian also assured that the Tombonuo association under him leadership will continue to also strive to create openings for the socio-economic advancement of the Tombonuo people.

“For this purpose we pledge our continued support for the leaders of the area, namely Datuk Rahim Bakry as the Member of Parliament of kudat, and Datuk Boliah Hj Ismail as the assemblyman of Pitas.”

“I am confident that we will achieve greater success in the future and become a respected group,” he said. “But to achieve we need to co-operate and move together forward so we may be at par with others in many fields of endeavour.”
