OUTLET….. The closed road outlet in Millennium Plaza, Penampang.
By : DAP MEDIA
THE people in the Penampang Millennium Plaza filed their complaints to the Branch Chairman, Stephen Jimbangan of Sabah DAP Kapayan Branch regarding the closed road outlet leading to the main road in the Penampang By-pass.
The road outlet was closed by the authorities using some permanent crash barrier fixed across the outlet stopping all vehicles from gaining access to the main road from the Plaza.
Stephen and Edward Ewol Mujie attended to the case and found out that the outlet is very important to the people in the Millennium Plaza, and the closure had caused hundreds of cars jammed up and queuing to get in and out from a single entrance and outlet at the front.
The people said this had brought them with plenty of inconveniences and lost of business. They cannot understand the logic on the closure of the road outlet because this has been the useful outlet to get out fast to the main road.
Stephen said that since the road outlet point was approved by the JKR and the Penampang District council from the beginning and being used for long time now, why suddenly close the outlet?
He said on the main road side, there is also a road lay-by lane created for the cars to gradually get into the main road. There is totally no reason for the authorities to close the road outlet but instead they should make the particular road outlet into a point of in and out for the Plaza to easy the flow of the traffic. The cars are getting more and more here in the Plaza and it is essential to create more outlets and not to close any one.
Stephen urges the JKR and Penampang council to immediately reopen the closed outlet and to create an entrance to allow cars from the main road to turn in. This is requested by the people here and it is their well being that the authorities must protect.
FOUL…. The filthy foul drain next to the main road (Penampang By-pass)
Besides, Edward Mujie pointed out that the main drain by the road side next to the Millennium Plaza is smelly and clotted up with deep foul water and rubbish. The smell is unbearable and it affects the business of the eatery shops nearby.
The blockage to the drain had been there for a long time and this was reported by Sabah Dap quite some time ago, and yet no action has been taken by the authorities. This is not acceptable, and why the authorities did not move in to clear the main drain along the road?
How can the officers not see the smelly drain that is so dirty and filled with rubbish? Edward said if this drain is next to the officer’s house, he would have clear it long time ago, but what about the poor people here in the Millennium Plaza, do they deserve to take in all the foul smell every day?
