DATUK Jainab Ahmad Ayid,
Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology lauded
Jakel Silkhouse’s generous donation package for the underprivileged during its
Buy & Win Awards ceremony today.
“It is really heartening to
see enterprises like Jakel Silkhouse going all out to help communities, and
such efforts struck a chord with many who attended today,” she said in a press
conference at Alam Mesra.
Datuk Jainab welcomes the
private sector to play a more active
role in community relief work and social welfare programs. She said the
government is prepared to assist corporations to make their presence felt in this endeavor.
More than a hundred people
attended the event, which was held to award the lucky winners who participated
in the annual lucky draw contest and to donate 50 gift hampers of chiffon silk
to 55 single mothers and underprivileged families from Karambrunai.
Customers were required to
make a minimum of RM 1000 worth of purchases to qualify for the competition.

Sabah, Mohd Amran Bin Mohd Nor told
reporters that prize allocations were much bigger this year, following popular demand. He hopes
customers will continue to support the company and its efforts in reaching out
to the community.
The result was a thrilled
Rosianna Nordin, 38, with a family of four, who won the grand prize, a brand
new Perodua Viva; while 5 other contestants received Naza Motorcycles and 5
other people each winning a 32’’ LCD TV
set.
“I never expected to win a car!
