JALAN SEGINDAI BN 'HAND MADE' ROAD?

JALAN Sigindai in Kinarut which served many people in the area is needed urgent repair to its broken up road surface turned to fish pond or hand made road. The Sabah DAP was informed by the people living here recently especially those who stay in the PPRT apartment here.

They said the road surface is breaking up fast due to the heavy traffic and especially the rainy season is coming in. The road is filled up with pot holes, and these are getting bigger every day. The road maintenance contractor is no way to be seen to repair these roads.

The Sabah DAP Ketua Wanita Puan Noriah Onong visited the road here in Kinarut with the Sabah DAP Vice Chairman Edward Ewol Mujie and Robert Rajah. They found the complaint is valid and the condition of the road is really bad.

The worst part is the branch road Jalan Kuburan Sunag that is linking to the PPRT Segindai housing as an alternative access. The portion of this road next to the housing is totally impassible and flooded over.

Although it is only a stretch of one hundred feet long, smaller cars wouldn’t be able to cross over. There are many cars using this road daily and it is a good short cut instead of making a long detour.

Puan Onong said the road maintenance contractor couldn’t have missed the section of the road because there is a sign board there showing that the roads here are under their maintenance contract.

They should have constant surveillance and making rounds to ensure that there are no big holes on the roads that are contracted by them. She said that if the contractor failed the job, he should be removed and changed another contractor. The people have paid their money, and should not face difficulties in getting home.

The condition of the roads in Kinarut area especially those going into the kampongs here must be made good for the people. Puan Onong said she will be traveling regularly into the various kampongs from Lok Kawi onto the kampongs near Papar town to check on the road and drain condition and to ensure the contractors do their job and contract properly. We don’t pay them for nothing, but we expect them to perform accordingly.

On the other hand, the visit in Kinarut received many other complaints on the road side drains needed to be cleaned, road signs needed to be improved, bushes and trees needed to be trimmed when blocking the sight of the motorists. Puan Onong asks the people to contact her when ever they need her service. She can be reached at telephone contact 019-8721665.
