KASIH, SHELTER HOME FOR SINGLE MOTHERS

A COURTESY visit was organised by the Kota Kinabalu MP office recently to the Sabah Aids Support Services Association. (KASIH).  A total of ten members including Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu were present.

KASIH  is located at Kobusak, Kota Kinabalu Sabah. KASIH is a shelter home for single mothers and children who are living with HIV (aids).

The centre provides care and couselling to HIV patients/carriers. The support group is headed by its President Joseph Benedict and his Vice President Agnes Khaw.

The Kota Kinabalu MP office donated some rice, food and beverages and other daily use items to help this needy people.

The visiting team was given a warm welcome by the management and staff of KASIH, and at the same time they were given a briefing on the KASIH’s mission, objectives and the details on their operation.

Kasih is a support group that receives a small amount of funding from the federal government through Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC). Most of the Kasih’s contributions come from the generosity of the public. Donations in cash or kind are always welcome. The public may channel donations to the Association by contacting KASIH at Tel no: 088-712 914.

MP Hiew urges the public to give them more support because these people who were affected by the incurable HIV is really pity and it is sad to see that they are so helpless.

A very big thanks to the members of KASIH who had made such big sacrifices to take care of these unfortunate people. Its President Joseph Benedict also wishes to have more people to join KASIH to help the needy. He welcome the general public to visit them and to understand their work.
