Dear Editor,
MY younger son went and I wanted to go too but he asked me to stay back in case he was arrested and needed to be bailed out. He left before noon by KTM train from Kepong station and alighted at Bank Negara.
According to his account the crowd which he joined numbered about 10,000 but they could not make it to the stadium because of the road blockages. Instead they went to Dataran Merdeka, Masjid Jamek, Pudu and when the police fired tear gas they retreated to the KLCC building.
He breathed in some of the gases and felt suffocation. Then the rain came heavily and the crowd was drenched. The LRTs was not on service so he finally made his way to the monorail station at Bkt. Nenas and took the KTM train to KL Sentral, boarded the train to Kepong and finally reached home safely after 8pm.
Combined together, the total number of the various groups could well come to 100,000 which is very commendable. So in spite of the police bullying and Najib's corrupt regime Bersih was successful in carrying out its mission.
Thank you to all those who took part. My salute to you!
Best Regards,
CHEE WENG
