THE 13TH General Election is
going to happen any time and the Sabah DAP leaders are not going to take it
lightly. The DAP team has started the walkabout since three weeks ago covering
the whole of Kota Kinabalu, Sepangar, Putatan and Penampang area.
The Sabah DAP Advisor cum
DAP Malaysia Central Executive Committee (CEC) member, and the Kota Kinabalu
Member of Parliament led the group comprising of the State Vice Chairman Edward
Ewol Mujie and other senior members started the walkabout in the major areas
hoping to meet more people and listen to their views and at the same time to
received their complaints.
So far, they have covered
the big shopping malls and the markets in most parts of the KK City, and will
walk into the sectors which are at the outskirt of the towns and city. The
group aims to complete the schedule walkabout to the main areas in two weeks
time.
The walkabout exercise is
very positive and the people welcome to meet the leaders of the DAP. Many views
has been received and the complaints on the bad infrastructures is the highest
among other complaints like economic hardship, no development, foreigners
getting MYcards, RCI, election cheating, unfairness in government promotion,
land matters, long wait on issuance of strata titles, housing management, dirty
environment, flood, and high cost of living affected by low pay and high prices
of essentials.
The people are anxious on
when the general election is going to arrive, they said they can’t wait any
longer and wanted to get the change in as fast as possible. This feeling is
getting more immense day by day now.
They commented that we need to remember no matter what, we should not
vote the 'bad managers' and 'thieves' into the government.
Sabah has become the poorest
from what it used to be the richest state in Malaysia. 48 years is only a short
time to watch a state falling from rich to poor, what happened?
The only reasonable answer
is due to 'bad managers' who did not manage the state to achieve prosperity and
with high economic performance. Not only that, we are also seriously affected
by the 'political get rich' phenomena and syndromes. Other countries have done
well and progressing faster than us, and this reflects that there is something
that badly needed to be put right in our own.
The high corruption rate
indicating that we have a lot of built-in loop-holes in the system to allow
this to happen, especially in the direct award of tender, negotiated tender,
and huge contract work. The escalated contract sum is one typical example, and
our MACC is always slow to act even after reports and complaints had been filed
in.
The bad managers are doing
more damage and harm to the country, and it is time that we must remove them
once for all. We should not allow those who “steal” from the people to come
into the government or to represent the people, especially those with bad track
records and known as bad.
The people generally
requested a 1 to 1 fight, but it is PR vs BN.
