MADONNA'S FIRST FRAGRANCE ARRIVES IN M'SIA

SINGER Selena Gomez launched her first self-titled fragrance not too long ago, joining the ranks of many who have gone into the world of celebrity perfumes. Her boyfriend Justin Bieber, who is this year’s Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity Award winner, launched his first women’s perfume Someday a year ago. Country crooner Taylor Swift also debuted her own fragrance, Wonderstruck, last October.

Also jumping on the scent bandwagon is Madonna with Truth or Dare, a fragrance she describes as “provocative, iconic, daring and elevated."

“There is something primal and mystical about the sense of smell. It connects us to memory, nostalgia and the ability to dream and fantasise.

“I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well. Something classical and timeless and yet modern,” the Material Girl singer reasoned.

The fragrance is a contemporary and sexy reinvention of a classic, a robust signature white floral with gardenia, tuberose and neroli for top notes.

The addition of gourmand notes such as vanilla and caramelised amber makes the fragrance stand out from traditional floral fragrances and gives it a contemporary edge.

“My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere. She always smelled like gardenias and tuberose. An intoxicating mixture. Feminine and mysterious.

“I wanted to recreate this scent but with something fresh and new about it as well. Something honest and yet daring. Hence the name Truth or Dare.”

Madonna’s new fragrance is currently available at Sogo, and selected Parkson, Metrojaya and Sasa. Its 50ml bottle is priced at RM159 (Peninsula) and RM167 (Sabah and Sarawak).
