MANY REASONS TO CELEBRATE KAAMATAN

KENINGAU: THE Prime Minister said Malaysians have a lot of reasons to celebrate Tadau Kaamatan merrily not only for the bountiful harvest this year but also the many incentives given by the Government for the people's prosperity.

"If Tadau Kaamatan is to celebrate the bountiful harvest then we in our country must also be celebrating because while other countries are facing a gloomy economy, we in Malaysia can still give the BR1M costing RM400 million; seven to 13 per cent salary increment for the public service and the introduction of the minimum wage.

"So we have a lot of reasons to celebrate Kaamatan happily. What is more important is the Barisan Nasional (BN) government will not relent in its effort to bring more 'rezeki' to the people," he said.

Wishing nearly 20,000 people at the Keningau Sports Complex here in Kadazan, Najib said he asked Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan the meaning of Tagazo and was told it means 'big'.

"So tonight's event is tagazo," he said. Such a big event could be held successfully in view of the harmonious relationship between the State Government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and the Federal Government under him, he said.

"That is why Sabah is experiencing rapid growth with the MICE project as mentioned by the Chief Minister to the SAMUR project in Sipitang and just now the Keningau Integrated Livestock Centre which is set to be the biggest in the country," he said.

When everything is harmonious there is no doubt that we will be successful in creating greater transformation, he said.

Earlier, Najib surprised the people when he together with Musa and Datuk Dr Rais Yatim among others took a mini bus to the Keningau Sports Complex.

Najib also presented the Tokoh Seni award to former Sabah Art Gallery Director, Datuk Yaman Mus and to two singers - Sabahan Jimmy Palikat and veteran Datuk A Rahman Hassan.
