DAP SABOTAGED THE SAPP-PKR?

By : CHONG PIT FAH

SAPP welcomes the tone of Wong Sze Phin to improve relations between DAP and SAPP. In fact, this is exactly what SAPP has been doing.

SAPP invited Pakatan leaders to our “Sabah Issues” conference on 31 August 2008. SAPP later participated in the 2008 DAP “September 16 Rally” at Kian Kok School when DAP supremo called for a Pakatan-plus alliance with SAPP.

We can live with Lim’s Pakatan-plus formula. Even after Pakatan’s “September 16” (916 Change) had failed, SAPP went ahead and withdrew from the incumbent BN government on September 17, the only party ever to leave a government.

In spite of the adverse consequences to its leaders and members at all levels, SAPP carried on with fighting spirit and building bridges to PKR, DAP, PAS and SNAP.

There have been countless meetings between Pakatan and SAPP leaders in Kota Kinabalu and KL, including attending the PKR convention at Shah Alam. But after the super success at Sarawak, DAP has dropped its Pakatan-plus formula because DAP is now super confident that it can win in the urban seats even in 3-cornered contests against the BN. However, SAPP believes that this will be a repeat of ‘Sarawak 416’ whereby DAP’s two parties system becomes a Chinese opposition and Bumiputra government.

At the 2010 Batu Sapi by-election, DAP sabotaged the SAPP-PKR understanding to not attack each other but to fight the BN. There is conclusive proof that some DAP leaders colluded with UMNO to finish off SAPP as revealed by BN openly returning thanks to DAP by Chief Minister of Sabah Musa Aman and Sekong Assemblyman Samsuddin Yahya.

In spite of the betrayals and hurtful attacks against, we again rebuild our relationship with PKR, DAP and PAS to prepare for the coming general elections. Things became more cordial after Jimmy Wong Sze Phin and Dr. Wan Azizah became heads of the Sabah DAP and PKR respectively early this year.

We attended every Pakatan function that we were invited to so as to build goodwill and mutual confidence. It is in the same spirit that SAPP senior leaders, including the president, a deputy president, three vice presidents, secretary-general, an MP and other leaders attended the DAP Ka’amatan festival. What happened there was totally unexpected which we do not wish to elaborate here because we agree with Jimmy Wong that we must move forward in fighting the BN.

As for Jimmy Wong’s call to SAPP to change its ideology, there is nothing to change. Our party Eight Points Peoples’ Declaration for Change advocates non-racial politics, autonomy, Borneonisation, redress imbalances, solve the illegal immigrants problem, 20% oil royalties, return of Labuan and review of unfair laws and policies that are detrimental to Sabah. Our domestic policies include land reforms for the people, youth employment and good governance. What is there to change?

  6. Bawa haluan masing2 sajalah. Kalau bergabung pun, esok lusa tarik diri kerana perbezaan agenda.

Patutkah DAP menjadi ketua PR??
