DIRTY DRAINS AT KG KETIAU, PUTATAN

THE RESIDENTS who live near and around the Kg Ketiau in Putatan filed the complaint to the Sabah DAP Wanita Chief Puan Noriah Onong concerning the very dirty and overflowing drain in front of the 1-Malaysia Clinic and the shops in Taman Ketiau. They said the drain was blocked for almost three years now.

The concrete drains here are filled with dirty water and also had collected a lot of rubbish. The water will over flow whenever there is rain, and the road is also flooded. There had been many complaints made to the authorities like JKR and Putatan District Council, but no action was seen coming here. The people here are not happy about the non response from the authorities.

Puan Onong brought the Sabah DAP KK MP Hiew King Cheu and the Vice chairman who is also the Sabah DAP Bureau chief for the Local Government and Housing to inspect the area. She said she also lives on the other side of Kg Ketiau, and their kampongs are also frequently affected by flood due to heavy down pour of rain.

They just don’t know what to do when they saw their furniture and belonging were all submerged in deep water. The people said who should pay for their losses. Obviously, this is the fault of the local Wakil Rakyat and the government for not doing their job. We seldom see these people come to visit us and see that our problems are solved, and it is a fact that we see them only when election is coming or disaster strikes.

Puan Onong found out that the said flooded drain is due to a serious blockage caused by the overgrown grass inside the drain, and the water couldn’t pass through. She wants the authorities to come to clear the block drains immediately before the mosquitoes start to multiply to 100 times, and affecting the health of the Kampong folks.

The medical personals working in the 1-Malaysia Clinic should be the first one to contact the authorities to come to clear the smelly drains which is hazardous to health and it is a very good breeding ground for the mosquito.  She said she will go back to check on the drain whether it has been cleaned in a few days time.

Edward Ewol Mujie said he is not happy about this, and the situation like this should have never happened if the authorities had done their job. It is a simple job to clear the drains, and it won’t take long to clean this mess up. The people representatives (YBs) here must do their job to inspect and to listen to the public complaints. In fact, they are being paid to execute this job.
