DON'T CREATE CONFLICT

BEAUFORT: People have been urged to make the open house practice, particularly during Aidilfitri, as a platform to promote understanding and harmony between the multiracial people in the State.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the open house tradition reflects the goodwill and friendship that have existed among the various ethnic groups in the State for a long time.

"If we receive guests regardless of race or religion, it will become a meaningful platform in fostering national unity based on the 1Malaysia concept.

"Do not create conflict that could lead to a split as it will only set the nation back," said Musa when met at Lumadan Assemblyman Kamarlin Ombi's Aidilfitri open house, here, Wednesday.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Yahya Hussin, Sipitang MP Datuk Sapawi Ahmad, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Salleh Said Keruak, Papar MP Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and several other state Barisan Nasional leaders.

Meanwhile, Musa also attended the open house of Klias Assemblywoman Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, who is Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, at Kg Limbawang, here.

He said the community's strong support for the Government leadership could be seen through the arrival of visitors at both the open houses.

"Also, brotherhood can be fostered between the rakyat and the leaders, as what we have seen today," he said.

Earlier, Musa, Kamarlin, Sapawi and Azizah and some BN component leaders presented Raya money to children attending the functions.
