JUTA BONUS ENDED THE MONOPOLY

DAP Sabah welcome the recent announcement by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri that new operator Juta Bonus would provide ferry service, which have finally effectively ended the MONOPOLY of Labuan-Menumbok ferry service.

Junz Wong DAP Sabah state assistant secretary said the announcement to approve additional license for Ro-Ro ferry came as relief for the lorry operators as well as the people of Labuan.

Junz praised both Ministry of Transport and state Ministry of Infrastructure Development for acknowledging the persistent complaints from the public highlighting the unreasonable charges and the quality of the service provided, by coming up with a solution.

Deputy Transport Minister Bakri said "With the competitor, there will be better service to the people and we will monitor to ensure healthy competition between them."

"We have learnt that Juta Bonus has commenced its operation and hopefully this new operator will follow strictly to the prices approved by Ministry of Infrastructure Development and this will effectively bring an end to the woes of Labuan people and the lorry operators." Junz concluded.

  2. Joseph Pairin Kitingan has warned the operator of the sole roll on roll off ferry servicing Labuan Menumbok against increasing the fare to transport lorries. Pairin pointed out that as the operator had the transport monopoly, it should not take advantage and hike the fare.
