DATARAN MERDEKA LOKASI KEKAL BERSIH 3.0

  2. Better make sure to get a permit to hold the demonstration over there. During the Bangkit demonstration in Sabah, the organizers have managed to get the permit from our police chief and the event has gone on very smoothly with the police coordinating the safety. Unsure why in West Malaysia, there are sure to be chaos whenever a demo is conducted.

  3. What will Bersih 3.0 going to fight for this time, any additions to the 8 points? I believe some points in the Bersih 2.0 has gotten the attention of the Electoral Commission, they have agreed to implement some of the points raised by Bersih such as using indelible ink and clean up the electoral rolls.

  4. Bersih 3.0 could try to negotiate with the EC to have a better and cleaner election, I'm sure they will be willing to listen if both sides sit down and discuss properly. Even the PSC has recently agreed to implement 18 out of 22 points of the recommendation.

  5. Belajar daripada pengalaman lalu. Segala tindakan perlu ada batasan, baik pihak Bersih 3.0 mahupun pihak berkuasa.

  11. The Kota Marudu MP said that democracy did not mean the society could disregard the law and let lawlessness rule.

  12. He said the government regretted the untoward incidences of violence and unruliness during the Bersih 3.0 gathering in the national capital, especially when the organisers had called the planned gathering a peaceful one.

  13. “The government cannot compromise on peace and rule of law otherwise the government is just as guilty as those who decided to turn the gathering into an untoward incident by defying a court order,” he said at an event in Kampung Nolotan here to accept new membership from 305 people into Parti Bersatu Sabah on Friday.

  14. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s view that certain quarters had used the gathering to further their own agenda of toppling the democratically-elected government by inciting violence and forcing the illegal occupation of Dataran Merdeka.

  15. “Everybody wants fair elections, the government wants it. So the government initiated the setting up of a parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reform to undertake measures for reformation.

  16. “But what we do not want is people instigating the public to commit offences towards achieving their own political agenda under the guise of a good cause,” he said.

  17. Dr Maximus said PSC members had worked hard for six months to deliberate and gather public views before coming up with 22 recommendations to be undertaken by the relevant parties including the Election Commission.

  18. The PSC, he pointed out, also comprised three Opposition representatives – from DAP, PKR and Pas – who worked hand-in-hand with other Barisan Nasional PSC members to thrash out their concerns and thoughts and come up with the measures.

  19. “So it smacks of political agenda when they decided to act like they did not agree with the PSC’s final report and demanded to table their own minority report.

  20. “Furthermore, PKR, DAP and Pas proceeded to join the rally which is undermining the PSC’s effort and directly this means rejecting their own views and proposals,” he said.

  21. Dr Maximus hoped Malaysians as well as Sabahans would think with rationality and cool heads instead of being influenced by the action of those who blatantly breached the court order, break down the barricades at Dataran Merdeka and created a ruckus.

  22. He also urged the police to take stern action against those who breached the law and committed contempt of court including the organisers.

  23. “This incident has put a lot of questions about the intentions of the rally. Those responsible should not absolve themselves of responsibility and blame the police who were only doing their job.”

  24. Dr Maximus also attended the swearing-in of the new committee of the Kota Marudu Chinese Chamber of Commerce for the 2012-13 term.

  25. In his speech, he said the government recognised their role in nation building and development, including in Kota Marudu which was fast growing as a commercial centre in northern Sabah.

  26. And, he also praised the Chinese community for contributing to the development of education including through the chamber and education programmes which had benefited all.

  27. “For example, Tadika Khoi Ming in Kota Marudu has 70 per cent children who are Bumiputeras,” he said.
