SKIRT lengths vary by 20ins as women go through life and 23-year-olds wear the tiniest minis, a study found.
Confident women now wear mini-skirts until they hit 45, five years later than when the study was last carried out in 2009.
Girls first want a mini aged 14, but most settle for rolling up their 46cm (18in) school skirts until they buy one at 16.
They wear skirts averaging 36cms (14ins) until they’re 19. Hemlines are then hiked to 32cms (12.5ins) as 20 to 23-year-olds hit the town flirting.
Skirts lengthen 5cms as girls settle down with their first serious boyfriends, before going back up as 28 to 34-year-olds hunt husbands.
Lengths stay steady in women’s 30s, but turning 40 makes them flash flesh again in 35cm skirts. Hemlines fall below the knee at 49 and over-60s prefer maxi-skirts at least 80cms long. Debenhams, which did the study, said: “British women are still in love with the mini-skirt.” (thesun.co.uk)
