FOURTEEN top local celebrities, handpicked to be the voice talents behind the big screen version of hit Malaysian animated series, Bola Kampung - The Movie, swear by it.
"I grew up watching a lot of cartoons and it's my childhood dream to be in a cartoon," multi-talented actor/director Afdlin Shauki chuckled and said.
"I can audition to be the voice of Optimus Prime (the lead character in Transformers) after this."
Bola Kampung - The Movie is the story of football crazy village school boys Iwan, Sabok, Azeizul and Kumar who rise to the challenge by stepping up their game.
Afdlin aside, the feel-good animation also star Deanna Yusoff, Ezylnn, Aznil Nawawi, Aizat, Douglas Lim, Baki Zainal, Harun Salim Bachik, Mamat Sepah, Rahim Omar, Noh (of Hujan), Steven Tan and Dilly (of Mix FM).
Joked funnyman Douglas, "My previous project was Bola Bandar. But it didn't get a permit. So thanks Bola Kampung."
Interestingly, girly girl Ezlynn takes on the role of a boy, Iwan in the CGI animation.
"The dedication shown by the team captures my heart," enthused the pop star. "I fell in love with the project at first sight."
Directed by Ah Loong, Bola Kampung - The Movie is produced by Animasia Studio at an estimated cost of RM6 million.
The TV series, created six years ago, has scored big on Disney Channel Asia and Cartoon Network Asia.
