TAWAU : An Indonesian man,
who confessed to have obtained a fake MyKad through Project IC, was sentenced
to eight months' jail by the Magistrate's Court Tuesday.
Indonesian Latif Andi, 40,
admitted before Magistrate Edward Paul to having the fake document bearing the
serial number 721012-12-6235 under his name at 2pm on Jan 12 in front of the
Kota Kinabalu bus station, in Sabindo.
Latif also confessed that he
had obtained the fake Mykad through Project IC.
In another case, Filipina
Perwena Salowan, 22, was also jailed eight months for having a fake MyKad
bearing the serial number 901106-12-5604 under her name.
Perwena pleaded guilty to
committing the offence at 7.15pm on Jan 12 at Counter 5 - 6, in the arrival
hall of the airport here.
Inspector Joan Lee,
prosecuting, told the court that Perwena had used the fake document to look for
a job in Kuala Lumpur in 2010 and had used it to enter Tawau on the day she was
arrested.
Lee said a check with the
National Registration Department showed that Latif's and Perwena's documents
were fake as they did not exist in the department's system.
The court ordered the
foreigners to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old
Suhardi @ Selamat Ali, was handed 10 months' jail for having a stolen
motorcycle at 9pm on Jan 13 at the Takada area. (DE)
