BUSINESSMAN Datuk Goh Tian Chuan was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Civil Laws (Honoris Causa) by the European University of Switzerland. Better known as Datuk TC Goh, he is the executive chairman of AIC Corporation Berhad and Jotech Holdings Berhad.

European University (EU) is an accredited multi-campus international business school that is ranked in the Top-40 Business Schools, according to the QS Global 200 Business Schools Report 2012, and is committed to excellence in business education.

Goh received his doctorate award during the EU Asia Commencement Ceremony of 2012 held in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The award was in recognition of his exceptional success in reforming and turning around financial ailing companies, his tireless efforts and contributions to numerous sports and clan associations and his committed leadership in business and society.

President of EU, Dr Dirk Craen was on hand to personally present the prestigious award to Goh as well as the degree certificates to more than 70 graduates.

Goh is the president of The Federation of Hokkien Association Sabah and Labuan FT, and deputy president of The Federation of Chinese Association Sabah.

Kota Kinabalu City Hall Director General Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, the previous year’s honorary doctorate recipient, was also present to convey the commencement address to more than 70 graduates from around Asia such as Qatar, China and Hong Kong.

In his speech, Yeo shared his feelings of pride, joy and sense of achievement when receiving his award a year ago and went on to remind the students that graduation is merely a beginning into a much more challenging real world.

Goh is the third recipient in Malaysia, after Yeo and Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing respectively, of EU Honorary Doctorate. (theborneopost)
