MENTERI Kemajuan Luar Bandar dan Wilayah, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal mahu pihak yang berkenaan mengambil pendekatan proaktif dalam memartabatkan warisan pembuatan perahu atau lepa di daerah ini.
Beliau berkata kemahiran pembuatan lepa di Pulau Bum Bum, yang merupakan lokasi terawal dalam sejarah pembuatan lepa, perlu dijaga supaya ia sentiasa kekal sebagai warisan terpenting negara.
"Penganjuran pesta air atau Regatta Lepa ini akan dapat memelihara budaya mesyarakat Malaysia yang terdiri dripada pelbagai kaum," katanya ketika berucap pada majlis perasmian Regatta Lepa ke-19 di sini Sabtu yang disempurnakan oleh Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
Turut hadir Toh Puan Hajjah Nurida R.M Jasni, bekas Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Sakaran Dandai dan Menteri di Jabatan Ketua Menteri Sabah Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran.
Shafie yang juga anggota Parlimen Semporna berkata penganjuran Regatta Lepa sejak 19 tahun lepas telah berjaya mengukuhkan kedudukan Sabah dan daerah Semporna khususnya sebagai destinasi penting pelancongan negara. (Bernama)

ReplyDeleteApart from that, Malaysia had earned the Unesco Memory of the World recognition, World Heritage Site inscriptions and is also on the register of the representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention, 2003.

ReplyDeleteHe added that under its National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) for education, Malaysia was increasing the pre-school enrolment rate, enhancing student literacy and numeric skills, creating high performance schools and providing incentives for excellent school leaders and teachers to improve teaching quality.
