ANWAR SHOULD ALSO TESTIFY

KOTA KINABALU : Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should also be called to testify before the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Illegal Immigrants in Sabah.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Information Chief Datuk Johnny Mositun said the former Deputy Prime Minister had all this while remained silent about the illegal immigrant issue in Sabah.

"Whenever he come to Sabah he will only talk about how poor Sabah is to the extent that people in Semenanjung really think that we Sabahans are very poor.

"But people from West Malaysia who come to Sabah for the first time will find out the truth and most of them fall in love with Sabah," he said after attending the three-day PBS work camp on national politics transformation continuity in Kem Bina Negara, Kundasang on Sunday.

Asked to comment to the call by PKR Deputy President Azmin Ali that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad must testify as a witness in the RCI public hearing due to his supposed involvement in the Project IC, he said:

"Since Anwar was the Deputy Prime Minister at that time then it would also be worthwhile for the people to hear his testimony."

For Barisan Nasional (BN), Mositun reiterated that the establishment of the RCI showed it was serious and responsible in addressing the issue in Sabah, instead of sweeping it under the carpet.

Meanwhile, as the party's Chief Information Officer he hoped the 150 work camp participants would respond immediately to the call by President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan for them to set up respective election machinery in their divisions.

Election machinery in constituencies represented by PBS must be oiled, while it is equally important for those in areas represented by other component parties to help the BN obtained a resounding victory in the 13th General Election, he said.
