BEAUFORT : Chief Minister
Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman said the people should not be hoodwinked by
the opposition's lies that the Barisan Nasional government has brought no
development whatsoever to Sabah.
"The opposition
pretends to be blind and deaf as though nothing is happening in Sabah while it
is very clear that so many developments are taking place all around us,"
he said.
"The opposition said
they pity the people of Sabah because there is no development but this is a
blatant lie É but it is clear that the people know the opposition is only
lying.
"The people understand
that the Government has spent billions of ringgit for the state's development
through funding from the State Government and Federal allocation that was
approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is very sensitive to
our needs.
"For which, we must be
thankful," he said at the DUN Klias Christmas Celebration organised by
Umno Beaufort at Dewan Pa' Musa here Saturday.
Musa who is also Sabah
Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman assured that more development would be coming to
Beaufort as well as other areas in Sabah by the BN government.
"This is what we are
doing not only in urban but also rural areas É this is our promise in the
election and if we are given the mandate we will use it wisely for the benefit
of the people," he said.
Towards this end, he said
the State Cabinet members comprised all the ethnic races in Sabah because in
developing Sabah cooperation from all the community was needed to make sure
nobody is left out from the State and Federal development mainstream.
Earlier, Musa who is also
Sabah Umno chief said it has been a tradition for the people of Malaysia,
particularly in Sabah to celebrate all the festivities of the people
irrespective or religion and race.
"Even though we are
from various ethnic groups but we can celebrate our festivities like Christmas
in full harmony and peace," he said.
The turnout for the belated
Christmas celebration at Dewan Pa' Musa where not only the KDM community but
also other ethnic races reflected the harmonious and peaceful as well as strong
unity of the people in Sabah, he said.
Expressing gladness to see
the huge attendance, Musa said Beaufort is special to him because it was his
birthplace.
"As Chief Minister I
assure that we will continue to bring development to Beaufort in order for it
to be at par with other districts not only in Sabah but the rest of the
country," he said.
The Chief Minister was also
satisfied with the district development briefing by District Officer Wong Fu
Tien and the commitment shown by the people's elected representatives to serve
their constituents.
"What is important is
the BN government continues to be sensitive and this is what the Prime Minister
aspires that we go down the ground to see what more development could be done
for the people," he said.
Meanwhile, Community
Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Dun who is also the
Klias Assemblywoman and Beaufort Umno Acting Chief, Isnin Aliasnih said the
huge attendance was a manifestation of the people's support to BN, Umno and
leadership of Musa.
"If there are people
claiming that we no longer have support in Beaufort but we can see for
ourselves so many have come to be with us today," said Azizah.
Isnin said Musa's presence
showed his affection to the people here and "even if there is a leader
here but there is (even) a bigger leader (Musa) who is here and willing to
assist us."
Later, Musa accompanied by
Azizah, Isnin, Organising Chairman, Datuk Kimjus Duim, Rural Development
Minister Datuk Ewon Ebin, Deputy State Speaker, Datuk Johnny Mositun, Kuala
Penyu Assemblyman, John Teo Mau Sang, Upko Beaufort Chief, Datuk Wences Angang
and district church leaders cut the Christmas cake.
Musa also presented
contribution to the 18 churches and chapels in the district. More than 3,000
people attended the celebration. (DE)
