NAJIB ANNOUNCES PRIVILEGE CARD

APPROXIMATELY 700,000 government retirees will receive the "1Malaysia Privilege Card", which was previously only made available to police and military personnel, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Monday.

The Privilege Card entitles its holder to enjoy special discounts on goods and services at selected outlets across the country. It covers medical clinics, restaurants, hotels, sport and fitness arenas, clothing and vehicle accessories, general insurance cover and so on.

Najib, who announced this when addressing a gathering of government retirees at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) in Putrajaya, said that the privilege is extended to government retirees as a token of appreciation from the government to its retirees for their contributions.

The discount card can also be used at the 1Malaysia stores, including the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M), Klinik 1Malaysia and the Kedai Kain 1Malaysia, Najib said.

The Privilege Card was launched in August of last year to benefit some 241, 000 police officers and military personnel.

The initiative, which comes under the National Blue Ocean Strategy 6 (NBOS 6), will enable card holders to enjoy between five and 25 per cent discount on goods and services offered by participating companies. (Insight Sabah)
