LONDON
: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the attempt by two or three
individuals to create a ruckus at his meeting with Malaysians here yesterday
did not spoil the function.
“It
did not disturb me and the situation could be controlled after two or three
minutes. We will be showing the overall video recording of the function,” he
told Malaysian journalists, here, today.
He
said the move to show the video was taken as certain quarters might try to give
a different picture of the incident.
“So,
we need to correct the perception, to show what really happened, and many
attended the function yesterday including Malaysia’s High Commissioner to the
United Kingdom, Datuk Seri Zakaria Sulong,” he said.
It
is understood that the video recording will be uploaded to the 1 Malaysia blog.
At
the “Sepetang Bersama Perdana Menteri” (An Evening with the Prime Minister)
attended by about 1,500 people, two or three individuals appeared and started
making some noise.
Najib
said guests at the function were largely warm and friendly to him, they “salam”
with him while giving him words of encouragement and many also asked to be
photographed with him.
“This
shows that the action of the few did not adversely affect the function. It was
expected, an overflow from the recent Bersih 3.0 demonstration.
“Definitely
they would take the opportunity to exploit my presence (at the function) for
their own personal interest.”
He
said most Malaysians loved peace and disliked chaos. “They respect the rule of
law.
“This
could be deduced from my conversations with those present (at yesterday’s
function). They not only said positive things to me, but they also rushed
forward to have their pictures taken with me.”
But
as usual, Najib said, a small group would try to hijack an occasion for a
certain objective.
“This
was a case of a small minority group trying to dominate a situation.
That
is why as the majority, we should not allow this and not feel pressured in this
matter,” he added.
Najib
and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived here yesterday for a two-day
working visit to the United Kingdom.
The
prime minister had received an invitation from the Prince of Wales, Prince
Charles to attend a reception in conjunction with the conferment of the Royal
Charter for the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies this evening. (Bernama)

ReplyDeleteTidak bertamadun betul la mahu mengganggu kelancaran sesuatu majlis.
