TUARAN: Both former Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders, Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Ukin and Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing, are not sincere in their political struggle as they have not officially announced which party they are joining in Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hj Hajiji Hj Noor said this yesterday when launching the Tamparuli Barisan Nasional polling centre office at Kampung Tamparuli near here.

“How can the people in Tuaran give their trust to these leaders when they themselves are not believing in any political parties in PR? They have announced their movement and it is obvious that they are aiming for position, which will only benefit themselves, not the people.

“They are claiming for changes in Sabah, whereas BN has been working very hard to change the living standards of the people in Sabah, even the systems have been changed into better systems,” he said.

The Sulaman assemblyman added leaders who leave their supporters that have been fighting for them in every general election are leaders without spirit of friendship.

Hajiji said while Lajim and Bumburing dreamed of chasing their personal goals, BN would continue to work hard in implementing its policies and giving assistance to the needy to improve their standard of living.

After quitting from BN, Hajiji said Lajim and Bumburing condemned BN non-stop and badmouthed the leaders who had been supporting them all this while, without even thinking how BN had changed Sabah into a better place to live in.

“Bumburing is so proud that he has served the best for the people in Tuaran, but he might have forgotten that Kiulu and Tamparuli assemblymen Datuk Louis Rampas and Datuk Jahid Jahim have also worked hard to achieve the best development in Tuaran.

“Meanwhile, Lajim who has been with BN for so long and holding various positions in the government should know better what he had done before. He should answer the controversial issues about the land along Kota Kinabalu Waterfront, Atkinson Clock Tower when he was still deputy minister for housing and local government,” added Hajiji.

He admitted that the BN is not a perfect coalition and Hajiji stressed that a human is not perfect, but the people of Sabah, especially in Tuaran, should be thankful for the effort of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who has been very committed to change the country into a developed nation, while the people live in harmony.

During his speech in front of some 200 grassroots UPKO leaders, Hajiji said  the quota for parliamentary seat in Tuaran belongs to UPKO, and he has expressed his support for UPKO to stand for the next general election.

He also called on all BN component parties to work together to ensure the victory in Tuaran. He is confident with the support among UPKO members, especially with the commitment to set up the first polling centre office in Tuaran.

Also present at the launching yesterday were Louis, Jahid, Upko secretary-general Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau and MCA Tuaran Divisional Chief Chua Shieng Kian.(BP)
