A BRITISH man, who hacked
into Selena Gomez's Facebook account, has been sentenced to one-year jail. Gareth
Crosskey, (Middle) a 21-year-old worker at a fast food outlet, gained access to Gomez's
account after posing as her stepfather Brian Teefey - who administrates the
page.
Using a fake email, he
managed to convince Facebook to reset the passwords for the singer's account.
Crosskey contacted several
managzines, offering them Gomez's personal information and later posted a video
on YouTube bragging about his actions.
He also wrote to Teefey,
threatening to publish Gomez's private emails to Justin Bieber. The couple has
yet to officially announce their relationship then.
Judge John Price sentenced
Crosskey to 12 months jail after he admitted to two offences against the
Computer Misuse Act.
Crosskey had earlier claimed
that he hacked into the account because he wanted to prove the security lapses
in the social networking site after his own account was infiltrated.(metro.co.uk)
