SANDAKAN: DAP Secretary
General Lim Guan Eng should tell Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leader Datuk Seri Anwar
Ibrahim to stop luring ‘frogs’ into the opposition coalition before
implementing an anti-hopping law in Penang.
Liberal Democratic Party
(LDP) president Datuk VK Liew said this is because Anwar has been busy going
around looking for ‘tadpoles and frogs’ to hop into PR.
The Deputy Minister in the
Prime Minister’s Department made the remarks when asked to comment on the
Penang Chief Minister’s proposal to enact the state’s anti-hopping law.
Liew, who was met after
attending a Hari Raya celebration at Kg Sim Sim, said: “Guan Eng said the
purpose of the anti-hopping law is to prevent ‘tadpoles and frogs’ from being
bred in the country.
“He spoke about such proposal
fully aware that his big partner in the PR coalition, namely Anwar, has been
busy going round to look for ‘tadpoles and frogs’ to hop into his camp with a
view of forming government.
“Even as late as now, Anwar
has unashamedly claimed that more ‘frogs’ are expected to join him soon.
“So, isn’t that a slap on
Anwar’s face? It is obvious that Guan Eng and the DAP leadership do not agree
with Anwar’s unprofessional ethic of pinching elected representatives, as the
chairman Karpal Singh has gone on to say that the party would not tolerate
party-hopping.
“That be the case, how could
DAP tolerate people like Lajim and Bumburing who had recently hopped into their
coalition?
“Indeed, anyone in Sabah can
easily name more than 10 politicians who had hopped to PR. So what is DAP’s
stand on this?
“We all remember well
Anwar’s infamous 916 attempt in 2008 to wrest power from BN claiming then he
had enough BN YBs who had hopped to his camp.
“Why didn’t DAP tell Anwar
then that he was breeding ‘tadpoles and frogs?”
Liew said that only now DAP
has spoken out against elected representatives crossing over to another party.
“Where would that put
elected Members of Parliament like Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin and Datuk Seri
Panglima Wilfred M Bumburing who had recently hopped into PR?” he asked.
“The arrogant Guan Eng has
now publicly crowned them ‘tadpoles and frogs’. He obviously has no respect nor
any regards for them,” Liew said.
“In fact by his and Karpal’s
statements, DAP doesn’t welcome them and any party-hoppers into the PR
coalition. They even said that they will revisit the law on anti-hopping and
went on to assert that they will change the Federal Constitution to stop ‘tadpoles
and frogs’ from breeding.
“Why don’t they revisit
Anwar first and tell him on his face to stop luring the BN elected
representatives from jumping like ‘tadpoles and frogs’. After all, everyone
knows Anwar is the mastermind in this matter.
“If Guan Eng and Karpal
can’t tell that to Anwar, then they and DAP should quit the PR coalition,” Liew
said.
According to him, it is
public knowledge that they also have irreconcilable differences on Hudud law
with PAS.
Karpal has even gone on to
say “over his dead body” for such law to be introduced while PAS insists that
it is the way, he claimed.
“What do we have here? In
fact what we have is an explosive relationship within the PR awaiting to
explode.” (theborneopost)
