MEMBAKUT: Foreign Minister
Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has pledged not to lobby to be a candidate for the
Kimanis parliamentary seat in the coming General Election. He said he was
leaving it to the top party leadership to decide on the candidate. "I will
accept whatever decision made by the party on its choice of candidate.
"Whoever is selected to
be the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kimanis parliamentary seat, we will
give strong support and work hard to ensure BN wins with victory," said Anifah,
who is Kimanis MP, during a breaking of fast with local communities at the
compound of the district mosque.
He also presented
contributions from the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak in the
form of robes, dates and zam-zam water to 25 Imams and mosque committees in the
Kimanis area.
Also present were Membakut
Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Kimanis Umno Puteri Chief Saudah
Norzaman, Kimanis Umno Youth chief Mohamad bin Alamin, Kimanis Umno Wanita
chief Masnah Gani and community leaders as well as KadazanDusunMurut (KDM)
community here.

Umno Division chief said the people need to be wise before taking action that
could jeopardise the future of their children and future generations.
"Do right assessment
before making a wise decision É and don't be easily swayed by any propaganda
brought by irresponsible quarters because whatever decision that you make will
have an impact on the future generations," he said.
Anifah said the BN leadership
has been and always given priority to the people's well being. "Various
transformations have been carried out by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd
Najib Tun Razak who will make sure the people continue to enjoy peace,
prosperity and live in harmony," he said.
Meanwhile, Arifin said
sincerity in political struggle is imperative in bringing about change that
will lead to success and better development.
He said Najib has been
bringing many changes and transformation, which showed his sincerity in serving
the people irrespective of their religion, race and culture.
Arifin also commended the
attendance of non-Muslim locals who joined the breaking of fast with the
leaders.
"The presence of
non-Muslim locals like the KDM community shows that we uphold the 1Malaysia
concept and they respect our faith and religion," he said.
