RANAU-KUNDASANG VERY 'POOR' ROAD SURFACE

THE ROAD user complained to the Sabah DAP Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie over the poor condition of the road leading from Ranau to Kundasang recently during his visit to the district here.

The people here are not happy about the broken road surface which is due for resurfacing for a long time, but there is no sign that the JKR is going to resurface the stretch of road. The bitumen surface is already broken up and filled with rough surface which posted danger to vehicles. The cracked up surface will caused the vehicles to skit and caused severe damage to the car tires. This is more dangerous at the road corners and where there is a sharp turn.

The white road lines had faded and disappeared totally, and at many road bends there is no road line at all. This is very dangerous for the drivers because they cannot see clearly especially at night. By right, there should be reflective road lines on this hilly road which is normally covered by thick fogs and mist.

Edward urges the JKR to resurface this stretch of road and get it done properly before any serious road accident occurs here. We don’t know how soon the JKR can do this but we really wish they can come to do it soonest possible. The road lines must be painted fast and do not wait too long to do it.

Edward also said that the road safety signage is largely not being installed and it is compulsory that the road safety signage must be installed immediately. This is very important on this hilly and winding road. Many times the driver did not follow the traffic rules and serious accident did happened here. It is the responsibility of the JKR to ensure the road is safe for the drivers.
