A PAS assemblyman has denied
rumours that he has married artist Abby Abadi (picture), who recently joined
the party. Sinar Harian reported that Kelaboran assemblyman Mohd Zaki Ibrahim
has pleaded for the rumour mongers to stop the gossip.
Mohd Zaki, 41, said the
rumour, which started circulating on blogs and Twitter earlier this week, were
completely untrue.
“I have only met Abby once,
when she was invited to speak in my constituency on July 3.
“I hope the person who is
spreading the rumour will stop. Otherwise, I will take steps to clear my name,”
said Mohd Zaki, a father of five.
Abby, whose real name is
Arbaiyah Abdul Manan, has also dismissed the rumour through Twitter, adding
that it was not the first time she had been linked to some men.
She also appealed to fans to
pray that she would find a good match soon. Abby said she accepted such things
as part and parcel of her involvement in politics.
She submitted her life
membership form to PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat on July 19 in
Kota Baru.
Abby, 35, was a member of
the girl-group Elite before leaving in 1998. She was also a television actress,
who starred in the popular police drama Gerak Khas.
She was among celebrities,
including singer Aishah and comedian-lyricist Bob Lokman, who have joined the
Islamist party. (The Star)
