KOTA KINABALU: A local man
was found dead inside a budget hotel room in Kampung Air here yesterday.
The body of Wong Kian Vui,
49, from Kampung Bongkol, Pitas, was found in a pool of blood with head
injuries by a hotel staff around midnight yesterday.
According to the hotel
owner, who declined to be identified, the body was discovered when one of his
staff noticed the room was locked with a padlock from the outside.
He said the victim was
believed to have registered around 10am on Wednesday before he was found dead.
“Around 3pm on Wednesday, I
heard a couple of loud bangs coming from the room but did not suspect anything.
“I was only informed about
the discovery of the body and immediately informed the police,” he said when
met at the scene yesterday.
Meanwhile, city police chief
ACP Jauteh Dikun confirmed the incident and said the case was being
investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He said the police were
still carrying out investigation pending the forensic report.
This was the second man
found dead in a hotel room in the state capital.
On August 13, a 46-year-old
American man was found dead in a pool of blood in his room at a hotel.
Hotel staff discovered the
body of Paire Jeffrey Scott who arrived here on August 9 from the Philippines
and checked into the hotel on Saturday.
According to a hotel staff, Scott
had left the hotel early Sunday morning and returned around 2am the next day
with an injury at the back of his head. (theborneopost)
